Our Approach

The record built during an audit follows the case to Appeals and, if needed, into court. We manage what is produced and when, protect privileged communications, and respond to proposed changes in writing with the law and the evidence. In partnership audits, each decision point carries strict deadlines and consequences for the partners, and those decisions are made with the full case in mind. Many audits are handled alongside the client's CPA.

Experience

William A. Stone III has represented partnerships and individuals in audits involving IRS enforcement campaigns and has written for Tax Notes on IRS settlement offers made during audits.
